A suspected land con artist is facing charges after a deal-gone wrong.

Wallace Ngugi Mwaura was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts and charged with obtaining money by false pretense.

Mr. Ngugi is believed to have obtained Ksh 525,000 from Richard Ndegwa pretending to be in a position to purchase a plot in Ruiru East.

“The prosecution submitted that between November 10, 2018, and January 25, 2019, Mr. Ngugi jointly with others, approached Richard Ndegwa and conned him the said amount claiming they were able to purchase for him 1/8 an acre of the plot a fact they knew to be false.”

The suspected allegedly conned the unsuspecting buyer using the company E.Farm Society.

Appearing before Magistrate Micheni Wendy of Milimani Law Courts, Ngugi denied the charges.

The court, therefore, released him on a bond of Ksh 300,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 250,000.
