From Guard to Graduate: Speaker Wetang’ula Applauds Claire Jumma’s Inspiring Journey

In an inspiring tale of resilience and determination, Claire Jumma, a former security guard, has defied the odds to become a university graduate.

Speaker Moses Wetang’ula celebrated Claire’s achievement during a meeting at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday, calling her story a shining example of how education can transform lives.

Claire, who recently graduated from Kibabii University with a degree in Education, visited the Speaker in the company of her area MP, Hon. John Chikati.

Once tasked with opening gates and keeping watch, she now stands ready to shape young minds as a teacher.

“Claire’s journey is proof that no human is limited,” said Speaker Wetang’ula. “Her resolve, commitment, and determination to create a better future for herself are truly commendable.”

The Speaker acknowledged the struggles young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, face in pursuing education. However, he urged them to emulate Claire’s resilience.

“Education is the great equalizer, the light for the future, and the key to empowerment,” he said.

Hon. Chikati revealed that he had already secured a teaching opportunity for Claire at a local school while she awaits her Teachers Service Commission registration.

“She has overcome incredible odds to secure her future,” he remarked.

Claire’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and hard work. Speaker Wetang’ula praised her for demonstrating that even menial jobs can pave the way to remarkable achievements with determination and a clear vision.

“Her story is an inspiration for many, showing that with education and hard work, anyone can break barriers and realize their dreams,” Wetang’ula concluded.
