The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that fuel prices will remain unchanged from December 15 to January 14, 2023.
According to the most recent review, Super Petrol will cost Ksh 177.30 in Nairobi, while Diesel and Kerosine will cost Ksh 162 and 145.94, respectively.
The cross-subsidization of diesel by super petrol means that petrol users will continue subsidizing diesel users to enjoy cheaper prices at the pump.
According to EPRA, the prices include the 8% Value Added Tax (VAT).
“The price of Diesel has been cross-subsidized with that of Super Petrol while a subsidy of Ksh 25.07 per litre has been maintained for Kerosene in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices,” EPRA said.
According to the Authority, the government will continue to utilize the Petroleum Development Levy to compensate oil marketing companies for the difference in cost.
The review comes a month after the EPRA announced a marginal drop of Sh1 in fuel prices, on November 14.
