Fugitive Cop Caroline Kangogo’s Last Hours Alive

Kenyans woke up to the cruel death of one Corporal Caroline Kangogo, who allegedly shot herself at her parents’ home in Anin, Elgeyo Marakwet.

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya, Kangogo confirmed the incident.

Earlier reports claimed the officer was walking around in a hijab, with the DCI cautioning the public against engaging her.

In a picture doing rounds on social media, Kangogo was pictured walking casually in an unidentified town before she was discovered in the same outfit.

According to the officers, Kangogo arrived at her parents’ home at around 5 am.

“She (Kangogo) did not go inside the house, but her parents saw her come home. At around 7.30 am she went to one of the bathrooms located outside the house and shot herself dead.”

So far, police have not recovered any suicide note but were puzzled that no one heard the gunshot.

Her pistol has since been taken for a ballistics report, while the police carry out investigations into what happened to her.

“Our officers have secured the area, and we will search for any items she may have left behind. We’ll also look through her jeans pockets maybe we will find answers soon.”

When asked how Kangogo managed to elude police for weeks, Natembeya responded she was a qualified cop who knew how investigators tracked down criminals.

“The fact that she committed suicide indicates that she realized she could no longer hide. She couldn’t possibly stay on the run indefinitely,” he said.

The incident has sparked shock among Kenyans, who have pointed the suicide to extra-judicial killing.
