Gachagua: Police who arrested me, escort me to work

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that he has forgiven all the police officers who undressed him during a raid at his home in Nyeri in July, 2021.

Rigathi, who claimed that the more than 50 police officers who stormed his home had been sent by former president Uhuru Kenyatta, said they dehumanized him during the ordeal.

Speaking earlier today at Uasin Gishu county, where he attended a thanksgiving service, the DP said he had decided to forgive the law enforcers even though they also took pictures of him after humiliating him.

” I have even forgiven those 50 police officers that Uhuru sent to my home and who took off all my clothes as my wife and sons watched. They even called all my workers to see me without clothes and also took pictures of me. But, I forgive them,” he said.

The DP said he had forgiven all those who frustrated President William Ruto and him during campaign season.

The DP said that police should know that they too have families and should not allow such to happen to anyone.

“Siku ingine musifanyie binadamu vile mumetufanyia, Mungu akiwapa nafasi ya kufanya (When given such opportunities again do not frustrate a human being like that),” he said.

He said that Kenyans need to embrace forgiveness to move forward.

“President William Ruto and I have forgiven everyone so that we can move forward as a country,” he said.

He urged Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to forgive all those who frustrated him.
