Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire has officially taken over as the Kilifi interim chairman of Raila Odinga led-Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
The position was left vacant by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi who left the party on Tuesday evening.
In a statement released on Wednesday morning Mr. Mwambire, a Raila Odinga loyalist thanked Governor Kingi for the time he served as his vice and made sure that ODM became one of the most respected political parties at the coast, in Kenya and beyond.
“Governor Kingi has been the Kilifi County ODM Coordinating Committee chairman while I was serving as his deputy. In his absence or wish, I automatically used to seat as the interim chairman. He gave me an opportunity to explore different strategies for the party’s success without insubordination.”
“My loyalty to the party, chairman, and great supporters brought the best coordination which enlisted the best performance we experienced across the county in the last general elections and subsequent by-elections. None worked in isolation so there has been no magic from any individual party official or member for the success,” Mr. Mwambire said in the statement sent to newsrooms.
He took the opportunity to thank the Governor for his support, cooperation, and coordination during his tenure as the county party boss.
“We always consulted and the outcome was indeed the best. I am again humbled by his loyalty to my leadership skills and since he is still a life member of the party, am very sure his support will remain steadfast,” he said.
The interim chairman said as Kilifi county party leaders and supporters, they have already started a candid consultation with a view of revamping the glory of the party.
“We know the love of the party isn’t in an individual but its ideologies and achievements. We assure all ODM supporters and prospective members that the party is in very safe and loyal hands as we strategize for the next general elections.”
Mr. Mwambire also welcomed those who had left the party to other parties and insisted that ODM will always remain one of the steadfast political parties in East Africa.
“For and on behalf of the county leadership take this opportunity to welcome back all those who had left the party because of one or another reason and those who were looking for such an opportunity join us. ODM has emerged to be the biggest political party in Kenya and one of the best in Africa. Its robust foundation remains the best ever,” he said.
“Last but not least, am very much humbled by the confidence bestowed to me by the County ODM leadership, party supporters and the national party leadership led by our party leader, Raila Odinga,” he added in the statement.
