Gender Based Violence cases on the rise, Kenya record 8 more COVID-19 cases

Kenya has recorded 8 more positive cases of Corona virus bringing the number to 216. However one more person has recovered bringing total number of recoveries to 41.

Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi, said 5 of the new cases are Kenyans while 3 are foreigners. 6 of the 8 cases have a history of travel across Dubai, Pakistan and Comoros.

“Six of the positive cases were from our mandatory quarantine centre’s while 2 were picked by our surveillance team,” said Dr Mwangangi.

Dr Mwangangi said the disease is now spreading in the counties urging all Kenyans to be extra careful and exercise precaution.

“Coronavirus is now in all parts of the country from the south on Kilifi to the north in Madera and from the west in Vihiga to the east in Kitui.”

The Health CAS said that testing kits are going to be deployed in the highly affected areas to conduct mass testing.

However, as the country digs deep into fighting Covid-19 Domestic violence and sexual violence has risen in Kenya with high numbers expected to be recorded during this period.

Dr Mwangangi has urged all Kenyans to come together in the fight against the disease adding that this is the time to show unity more than ever.
