Government reports good progress in Covid-19 war, Safaricom donates agents

While announcing measures taken to curb the spread of the deadly virus, the Dr. Mwangangi said the country has hired 500 more health workers.

In addition to the workforce, teleco giant Safaricom PLC said it will deploy its network of agents in the country to offer free distribution sanitizers, face masks and other facilities, to aid the fight against corona virus.

While addressing the media, the Health CAS thanked private corpoations for facilitatiing the war against Coronavirus, urging other players in Kenya’s private sector to assist Kenyans in tackling the pandemic.

In response to leadership concerns, Dr. Mwangangi says that COVID-19 pandemic requires a ‘one for all approach’.

“We have adopted a one government approach to roll out interventions to prevent the further spread of the virus… All titles must be dropped for us to win against this virus” Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said.

She added that the government taskforce comprising the Ministry of Health, Internal Security, Defence, ICT and Innovation, Foreign Affairs and others were working as a team to flatten the coronavirus curve.

Dr. Mwangangi issues orders to all private testing facilities to share results with the government immediately failure to which, the Public Health Act would compel them.

She said the move will help the government understand the extent of the pandemic, so that it can be able to allocate resources accordingly.
