Government Suspends Crackdown, Averts Matatu Strike

The government has announced the suspension of the continuing statewide crackdown on public service vehicles (PSVs), personal automobiles, and other business vehicles. 

The government noted that the transportation industry, through allowing business and people’s travel, is an essential aspect of the country’s transportation sector. 

The National Police Service (NPS) published a statement on Wednesday informing the postponement of the public transportation strike, which was scheduled to commence on Wednesday. 

The operation targeted motorists with unregistered license plates, as well as vehicles with foreign plates but no motor vehicle foreign licenses. 

Operators of unlawful Public Service Vehicles (PSVs),’Usiku Sacco,’ and drivers of taxi vehicles such as the Voxy, Sienta, and Probox types were also targeted.
