Governor calls for investigations into ‘hate’ leaflets

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has called on security agencies to investigate inflammatory leaflets in Kipkaren estate of Kipkenyo ward. – By Gerald Gekara.

Governor Mandago urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to make arrests saying the threatening leaflets were not a first in the area.

“A few months ago leaflets were dispersed in the same area and the DCI did not make an arrest. We are calling asking them to move with speed and arrest these culprits,” Mandago said.

Governor Mandago condemned the efforts to disrupt peace in the region, acknowledging that Kipkaren is peaceful.

“We condemn with the strongest terms possible those working to disrupt peace in Uasin Gishu County and the entire NOREB Region.”

The hate-mongering leaflets contained messages asking certain tribes to leave the area.

The incident comes hardly a week after KANU Chairman Gideon Moi was chased out of the area.
