Governor Gladys Wanga Gifts President Ruto Bull, 200Kg Fish & Other Goodies

President William Ruto’s ties with the Nyanza region have grown stronger after Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga gifted him with a bull, a 200-kilogram fish and other gifts.

Governor Wanga presented the gifts to the President following a warm welcome and a brief jig with the Kagan Kochia traditional dancers.

“Your Excellency, because you have been kind and you have visited us, we have some gifts. Your Excellency, we have a 200kg fish, that is why we are talking about the introduction of processing in the area.

“Also, Your Excellency, Mokwa is the unga we are producing in Gwasi constituency Homa Bay County,” Wanga announced while handing the goods to Ruto.

The bull was spray-painted yellow on one side with the words ‘President’s Gift’ and ‘Vision Women’ on the other.

Other gifts were a locally crafted traditional hat, local omena delicacy from Lake Victoria, and pineapples among other fruits.

During his visit, the Commander-in-Chief dedicated the Homa Bay Municipal Market and toured the Homa Bay Town Pier Fish Market.

He described the market as “central to our economic transformation from the bottom,” and stated that his administration will work with county governments to expand the sector.

“We congratulate the county government of Homa Bay under Governor Gladys Wanga for leading the way in demonstrating the need for national and county governments to work together,” President Ruto wrote on Twitter.

President Ruto’s tour will see him also visit Kisumu and Siaya counties where he is expected to launch some more national development projects.
