Governor Malombe Unveils 5-Year Development Plan

The Kitui County Government has unveiled the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) for 2023–2027, set to guide the implementation of the county development projects.

The comprehensive plan serves as a roadmap for realising equitable development in all regions across the expansive county for the next five years.

Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, while launching the CIDP on Monday, emphasised his dedication to advancing development initiatives throughout the county.

“This CIDP is my commitment to reflect my collective vision to uplift the socio-economic status of the people and transform the region into a hub of prosperity and opportunity,” stated the governor.

The CIDP 2023–2027 is a carefully crafted document that outlines the priorities, strategies, and projects that will shape Kitui County’s future.

It covers essential sectors such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.

The governor added that the plan is expected to address the unique challenges facing the county while leveraging its vast potential.

Through innovative policies, efficient resource allocation, and collaboration with stakeholders, the leadership aims to bring about positive and lasting change.

The CIDP aims to improve infrastructure, including road networks, water supply, and electricity access, to enhance connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and people.

On healthcare and education, the CIDP will help in the implementation of projects aimed at improving healthcare facilities and educational institutions to provide quality services and opportunities for the county’s residents.

On agriculture and food security, the plan has development projects that target promoting modern farming practices, supporting farmers, and ensuring food sufficiency.

On environmental conservation, the plan will guide the implementation of sustainable practices to protect the environment and harness its resources responsibly.

The CIDP plan also offers solutions for youth and employment, especially in creating employment opportunities for youth through skill development and entrepreneurship programmes.

The launch of the CIDP 2023–2027 marks a pivotal moment in Kitui County’s journey towards prosperity and development.

With the support of its committed leadership and active community involvement, the region is poised to realise its full potential in the coming years.

The CIDP launching ceremony, which was graced by several county executive committee members, including Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani and the area County Commissioner, among others, showcased the commitment of the county’s leadership to drive progress and improve the lives of its residents.
