The Ministry of Labour has unveiled new job opportunities for Kenyan riders seeking employment in Dubai.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 10, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said the recruitment drive targets men aged between 21 and 38 who possess motorbike riding skills.
According to the CS, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in riding, with interviews set to include practical assessments.
Additionally, a good command of English and the ability to use Google Maps for navigation are also listed as mandatory requirements.
According to Mutua, those who qualify will be offered a fixed monthly salary ranging from AED 2,100 (Ksh74,000) to AED 2,500 (Ksh88,140).
The CS mentioned that there is also a performance-based pay option of AED 7.5 (Ksh264) per successful delivery.
Mutua noted that the salary packages will apply after successful candidates obtain a UAE driving license and officially report for duty.
“Come with confidence, demonstrate your riding skills, and seize this opportunity to work in Dubai,” Mutua said.
The recruitment interviews are scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 11, to Saturday, September 13, running daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The venue for the interviews will be the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in Athi River.
This comes months after Mutua denied allegations that the government promised some Kenyans fake jobs abroad.
In a statement dated Friday, May 2, he noted that there were some individuals who had claimed that they were yet to be deployed for jobs in Qatar following successful recruitment in December 2024.
Mutua reiterated that those who had been scammed were not part of the government programme. According to Mutua, some agencies had taken advantage of innocent Kenyans.
“We have also witnessed disturbing cases of fraudulent messages, incitement from certain quarters, and the involvement of unauthorized and unregistered recruitment agents who are preying on the hopes and aspirations of young Kenyans.
“Let me be clear: the Ministry will not tolerate the exploitation of any Kenyan seeking honest work. We are taking decisive steps to ensure that every opportunity offered through official channels is safe, transparent, and beneficial,” he said.
Consequently, Mutua expressed that his ministry would be investigating the agencies that take advantage of Kenyans for arrests to be made.
“To protect the integrity of this and future programs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has put in place comprehensive safeguards, including blacklisting and prosecution of rogue agents and agencies operating outside legal frameworks.
“We will also upgrade verification and vetting systems to ensure only credible and accredited recruitment pathways are approved,” he added.
