Govt Confirms Ithookwe Stadium on Track for Mashujaa Day Celebrations

The national government has made significant progress in preparing Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20.

Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Sports, Creative Economy, and Youth Affairs, Salim Mvurya, inspected the construction site and confirmed that the project is 80% complete.

Mvurya, accompanied by Principal Secretary for Sports Elijah Mwangi and other county officials, assured Kitui residents that the facility will be ready to host the celebrations.

“The progress is good, and we are on schedule to take over this facility before Mashujaa Day next month,” Mvurya stated.

The government has been working on upgrading the Ithookwe showgrounds, including the airstrip and roads leading to the venue.

Mvurya urged stakeholders and leaders to ensure the project’s timely completion, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the President’s promise to the people.

“We will continue to monitor this project to ensure the remaining work is done within the recorded time,” Mvurya added.

With just a month to go, Kitui County is eagerly anticipating the celebrations, and the government’s efforts to deliver a successful event are well underway.
