The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has released funds for the April 2026 Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme. The programme targets older persons and people living with severe disabilities across the country.
In a statement issued on April 30, 2026, the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs confirmed the disbursement.
The government released Kshs. 2,426,132,000 for the April payment cycle. The funds will benefit 1,213,066 registered beneficiaries nationwide.
In addition, the ministry confirmed that each beneficiary will receive Kshs. 2,000 for the April 2026 cycle. Payment started on April 30, 2026, shortly after the release of the funds. The government said the process will continue through the approved payment channels.
“The Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme remains a cornerstone of the Government’s social protection strategy,” the Ministry said.
“It aims to alleviate poverty and promote the well-being of society’s most vulnerable members, including older persons aged 70 and above, and persons with severe disability,” the Ministry added.
Furthermore, the programme prioritises older persons aged 70 years and above. It also supports persons living with severe disabilities who qualify under the set criteria. As a result, the initiative continues to reach households that face the highest levels of vulnerability.
The government explained that the cash transfer helps reduce poverty. It also strengthens access to basic needs such as food, healthcare, and shelter. In addition, the programme supports dignity and social inclusion among beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the State Department emphasized timely disbursement of funds. It said efficient payment systems ensure beneficiaries receive their money without unnecessary delays. The ministry also said it continues to improve service delivery across all regions.
In the same statement, the ministry urged beneficiaries to use official payment channels. It warned against fraud and unauthorized intermediaries.
At the same time, it reassured the public that it continues to enhance transparency and accountability in managing social protection funds.
The Ministry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening social protection programmes. He also noted that Inua Jamii remains a key pillar in supporting vulnerable Kenyans.
Finally, thousands of households across the country will benefit from the April 2026 cycle. The programme continues to provide a reliable safety net for older persons and people living with severe disabilities.
