A pharmacy in Kenya has become the center of attention among many individuals owing to its introduction of condoms popularly referred to as smart condoms that are believed to change their color in case of the presence of sexually transmitted diseases during intercourse.

In its promotional message, the condom was endorsed by a lady who was representing Glamaris Pharmaceutical, which sells the smart condoms.

As stated in the promotional message, a woman who was affiliated with the pharmacy described some of the functionalities of the condom in great detail.

“Hello, condom yenye inachange color imefika at Glamaris Pharmaceutical. Msichana akiwa na yeast infection ukiwa umevaa hii condom itachange to color white. Akiwa na bacteria itachange to light yellow. Akiwa na viral itachange to orange,” She said.

If proven scientifically, the claim could be a breakthrough in the detection of STIs.

Nevertheless, there has been no medical instruction or recommendation for the particular condom.

The advertiser then went on to point out more features of the product, adding, “So, alafu pia, wale watu wako na dudu (big genitals) kubwa iko like, iko kubwa, you see? Alafu iko lubricated vizuri. Inaingia kuingia, yani mpaka inside.”

She also claimed the condom is designed to accommodate high semen volume, saying, “Alafu kitu ingine tena wale watu wana produce sperms mingi, like kikombe mzima. Ina accumulate hizo zote na tena bado kuna nafasi. Tena bado iko na nafasi inaweza vutika na iko vizuri.”

The representative explained that the method was efficient in ensuring contraception, as she said, “Haiezi pitiza sperms msichana aanze kudanganya eti ako na mimba.”

She concluded by appealing directly to male consumers, saying, “Wanaume, this one, hii ni yenu na si pesa mingi, only 200 Kenya shillings you get this thing. So, pata your black condom na iko studded pia. Bye, karibuni.”
