Two foreigners who were arrested on February 2022, at JomoKenyatta International Airport were arraigned in court today and charged with being in Kenya bearing Counterfeit Swiss residency cards contrary to the Law.
Kanga and Nanjela, the two accused persons, appeared before chief magistrate Micheni Wendy of Milimani Law courts where they pleaded guilty to the offense.
The two accused were departing from JKIA to Paris via Ethiopian Airlines. The prosecution submitted that the accused persons could not give an explanation regarding the confiscated cards since they did not look genuine.
However, at the time of sentencing, the court said that it was convinced to issue lenient punishment to the convicted foreigners.
“This court notes that the two accused persons have been in custody for the last two months. I will therefore give a small fine of Ksh 50,000 in default to serve six months in prison.” Ruled the court.
