Gunmen Raid Remote Nigerian Village, Kill More Than 50

In the north western Nigeria state of Kebbi, gunmen killed scores of people, including two soldiers and a police officer.

The incident took place on Friday in the village of Dankade in the Danko Wessagu region.

According to some estimates, more than 50 individuals were slain, with some being shot and others having their throats slit.

According to residents, scores of individuals, including women were kidnapped, and the fate of the village leader remains unclear following the incident.

They claim that remains are yet to be recovered for burial and are strewn throughout the village and in the bushes.

The region is dealing with an increasing number of ransom killings and kidnappings for ransom by armed groups, with officials facing criticism for failing to address the problem.
