Gusiiland: Will Matiang’i Retain Interior Ministry Post In Azimio Government?

This follows Ondinga's Azimio tour in Nyamira County, where he stated that after the elections, he will accommodate Fred Matiangi in his government.

Lawyer Danstan Omari has asked Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga to publicly assure the Kisii community that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred MatinagI will retain his position if he wins the August elections.

Omari said in West Mugirango Constituency that the Azimio presidential candidate should make it clear to the Kisii community about Matiangis fate, just as he did to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who will head the Ministry of Lands, while Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya will head the Treasury and Peter Munya will head the Agriculture Ministry.

This follows Ondinga’s Azimio tour in Nyamira County, where he stated that after the elections, he will accommodate Fred Matiangi in his government.

“Our presidential candidate said he will accommodate our son in the next government, we would like him to make it clear for the assurance of our community that Matiang’i will still head the ministry of interior,” said Omari.

He stated that the Kisii Community is in Azimio and has promised to vote for the Azimio Government, so they will not be left out of the Azimio stake if it takes over the government.

“We are not in Azimio by accident, as a community we decided support leaders who will accommodate as because we have decided to put our votes in one basket,” said Omari.

He stated that because of the handshake between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Azimio government, Kisii people in top positions in the jubilee government, including the secretary general, chairman of the lands commission, controller of the budget, and chairman of the central bank, should be retained.

Stephen Mogaka, the Jubilee parliamentary candidate for West Mugirango constituency, said it was critical for Odinga to declare the benefits and drawbacks of the Kisii people during his tour in Nyamira.

“We welcome the decision of the Azimio presidential candidate for accommodating Matinagi in the Azimio government,” he said.

Fred Matiangi publicly came out and announced his support and campaigning for the Azimio candidate Raila Odinga a head of the General elections.
