Hacked Government Websites Successfully Restored— PS Omollo Announces

Several government websites in Kenya that were taken offline after a cyberattack on Monday have been restored, the Interior Principal Secretary, Raymond Omollo, has said.

In a statement issued on November 17, Omollo confirmed that the breach had been fully contained and described the incident as a temporary disruption caused by a group identifying itself as PCP@Kenya.

He said emergency response measures were activated immediately and technical teams, working with stakeholders, restored access to the affected platforms, which are now under continuous monitoring.

“The Government wishes to inform the public that on November 17 2025 several government websites were rendered temporarily inaccessible following a cybersecurity incident,” Omollo said.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was carried out by a group calling itself PCP@Kenya. The situation has been contained and we are strengthening defences to prevent future occurrences.”

The websites displayed messages including “Access denied by PCP”, “We will rise again”, “White power worldwide” and “14:88 Heil Hitler”. One defaced page listed an address, Flat 6, 28 Victoria Park Road, Leicester, as the attackers’ address.

Among the affected sites were those of the ministries of Interior, Health, Education, Energy, Labour and Water, as well as Immigration, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, State House, the Hustler Fund, the Government Press and Nairobi County government.

Omollo, who chairs the National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee, said the attack violated Kenyan law and international conventions, and warned that those responsible would face prosecution under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, the Kenya Information and Communications Act and the Data Protection Act.

He urged the public to report suspicious activity to the National KE-CIRT/CC (incidents@ke-cirt.go.ke or hotlines 0703 042700 and 0730 172700), the NC4 (0716 148341 or info@nc4.go.ke) or the DCI (0800 722203 or director@cid.go.ke).
