Harambee stars redemption match away to giant Killers Comoros

Coach Jacob Mulees headache will be on who fits the elusive scoring chances ruined in the first leg.

Harambee Stars chances of qualifying for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations appear slim, and especially with Michael Olunga’s absence.

In Olunga’s absence, Masoud Juma held brief as the team’s main striker and the former Kariobangi Sharks forward struggled in the first half, barely having a sniff at goal.

Masud Juma missed a sitter that the left-footed Olunga would perhaps have buried with his eyes closed moments later as he hesitated to meet an inch perfect through pass from Johanna Omollo, preferring to first control the ball when a first time shot would have sufficed.

coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee is positive the Kenya national team will do everything to claim maximum points when they take on Comoros in the return leg of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.

Stars will be playing away at Moroni this Sunday in the return leg, having settled for a frustrating 1-1 draw with Comoros at MISC Kasarani.

“It is a huge game in Moroni because they are not an easy side. It is a difficult hunting ground but we believe we can go there and sneak in some three points. The players are motivated and we will strategize to see how we can get the maximum points and see if we can upset the form book,” he said.

“We Can’t give up until the last minute. We are in a very tight group but we need to go to Moroni, get a good result and we will get back to a position to qualify. It is not over until it’s over,” he added.

The coach will require to work on the team’s passing and cohesion which looked out of sorts against Comoros in the opening half.

His central midfield comprising Wanyama and Omollo at times appeared stretched especially while on defensive mode and requires fine tuning.

Mulee further options should consider handing John Avire and Kenneth Muguna chances in the striking department and attacking midfield respectively in this must-win duel

Kenya is second on Group G standings with three points, two behind leaders Comoros

Kenya will keenly be following the match betwen Egypt and Togo, Kenya’s other opponents for a qualification spot who meet in Lome on Friday hoping it ends in a draw, a win for Egypt places them above Kenya complicating it qualifying chances
