Health CS Kagwe Unveils Modern Waste Microwave At KNH

Mutahi Kagwe, Cabinet Secretary for Health said the government was committed to environmentally responsible and cost-effective waste treatment and disposal technologies.

To incinerate medical waste, the machine uses Non-burn technology from Belgium.

The first phase of the project, which was carried out by the national and county governments with the assistance of the Belgian government, was carried out at ten high-volume public and private health-care institutions, including two former provincial hospitals and two national referral hospitals.

The Ministry declared that Phase Two of the project is nearing completion and would soon be implemented in 15 counties.

President Uhuru Kenyatta during his Madaraka Day speech said the government was committed to restoring dignity in the health sector.

“The dignity of families is supported by sustainable livelihoods. It is for this reason that my Administration’s agenda continues to focus on creating an enabling environment that offers every Kenyan an opportunity to participate in the economy.” Uhuru said.
