Dr. Nakhumicha S. Wafula, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, met with the Regional Commissioner, Mr. Samson Irungu Macharia, and the Governor of Kakamega County, Fernandes Barasa, to get an update on the county’s health situation.

A coordinated strategy to address the health issues in schools was presented by the CS and the PS for Basic Education, Belio Kipsang.

The administrators talked about the most current health issues that Mukumu Girls Secondary School and Butere Boys Secondary School had to deal with.

After suspected incidents of food poisoning, Butere Boys High School in Kakamega County was shut down indefinitely.

Several hundred students were hospitalized after displaying cholera-like symptoms, including vomiting.

Similarly, on Monday, the Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls’ High School was shut down permanently after two girls passed away from what was likely food and water contamination.

The officials also talked on what steps should be made to guarantee that the impacted students receive the appropriate medical care.
