High Voltage Cable Snaps, Killing 25

At least 25 people, including 23 women, have died by electrocution after a high-voltage electric cable cut in Matadi Kibala, in the municipality of Mont Ngafula, Kinshasa.

These figures were confirmed by Lyly Tambwe, commander of the Mount Ngafula district police contacted by ACTUALITE.CD.

The victims are mostly saleswomen in a local market.

“The incident took place in two different places on the same section of Matadi Kibala. When the cable fell, we talked about 4 deaths, but another between places we talk about twenty deaths, “says the ACTUALITE.CD reporter on site.

According to local sources privy to the incident, locals were instructed to vacate the voltage line reserves which were encroached.
