Homa Bay: Woman Arrested For Burning Her Son’s Hands Over Food

A 23-year-old woman is being held at Homa-Bay Police Station after allegedly burning her son’s hands for allegedly stealing cooked food from a neighbor’s house in Homa-Bay town’s Shauri-Yako estate.

After receiving information that her son allegedly broke into a neighbor’s house and ate fried liver, the woman is said to have tied her son’s hands with a nylon sack’s string (manila) before setting it ablaze on his hands.

According to reports, the boy, who was playing with his three siblings, sneaked into the neighbor’s house and stole the food before being discovered and reported by the neighbor’s child.

According to Homa-Bay township assistant chief Salim Nyauke, the child was rescued from her mother’s hands by neighbors who responded to the boy’s screams as his hands burned.

According to Mr. Nyauke, the boy was rescued and taken to Homa-Bay County Referral Hospital, where he is being treated for severe burns on his fingers.

The assistant chief said that the woman will be charged with assault once the investigation is completed.
