Power Connection Requests Go Digital In New KPLC Service

Kenya Power has established a self-service portal that will allow users to apply for energy connections from the convenience of their homes.

Customers can apply for electricity using Kenya Power’s mobile phone app, “My Power,” or by visiting https://selfservice.kplc.co.ke/ on a computer or mobile phone.

Customers will be asked to submit land/property ownership documents, ID cards, and PIN certificates through the portal when submitting their applications.

Customers will receive an instant reference number after submitting their application, which they can use to proactively check and track their application status using the USSD code *977#.

Subscribers can use the service to report power outages, make prepaid token purchase inquiries, and submit meter readings to receive actual monthly bills for post-paid customers, among other things.

At the same time, the ongoing full digitisation of the network is one of the efforts being made to improve the new connection process.

Once completed, this will minimize the time it takes to offer a quotation when an application is submitted, as well as make it easier to determine a customer’s location in response to service requests.
