A house help has been charged with stealing Sh1.3 million and other assorted items worth $15, 200 from her boss.
Monica Muthoni was charged with stealing in violation of Section 281 of the Penal Code. She however, disputed the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke.
The court heard that she reportedly stole from her employer between February 25 and June 22 at an apartment in Nairobi county. The accused stated in court that she had personal disagreements with the boss.
She also requested the court to grant her reasonable bond terms, claiming she could not afford a high bond. She was released on a Sh500,000 cash bail with a Sh500,000 surety.
