Eliud Owalo, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and Digital Technology, and Eng. John Tanui, principal secretary received a briefing from ID4Africa.
The Executive Chairman of ID4 Africa, Mr. Joseph Atick, Senior Marketing and Communication Manager, Ms. Shauna Taylor, and ID4 Africa Ambassador in Kenya, Mr. Christopher Wanjau, made up the delegation.
In his speech, Mr. Atick described ID4Africa as a pan-African initiative that was started in 2014 with the aim of accelerating the adoption of digital identification on the continent throughout the shift to digital transformation.
Since its beginning, ID4Africa has promoted identity-for-all, not merely as a moral imperative (in line with SDG 16.9) but also as a practical requirement for service access.
The Movement holds that for economic growth and the digital transformation of government, inclusive identity schemes based on the preservation of privacy and human rights are crucial.
