IEBC Gazettes Winners of November 27 By-Elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has formally gazetted all winners of the by-elections conducted on Thursday, November 27. 

The results were published in a Special Issue of the Kenya Gazette dated Monday, December 1, confirming newly elected representatives to the Senate, National Assembly and County Assemblies.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 88 (4), 97 (I) (a), 98 (1) (a), 101, 177 (1) (a) and 194 of the Constitution of Kenya, section 4 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, sections 39 (1), 1A and (1B) of the Elections Act, Regulations 83 (1) (e) and (f) and 87 (2) (b) and 3 (h) of the Elections (General) Regulations, 2012, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declares that the persons whose names are listed in the First, Second and Third Schedules hereunder were elected to the Senate, National Assembly and County Assemblies having received the majority of the votes cast in the By-Elections held on the 27th November, 2025 and complied with the provisions of the Elections Act and the Constitution,” the notice read.

In Baringo County, Kiprono Chemitei of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was declared the elected Senator after securing 55,246 votes, filling the only senatorial vacancy contested in the by-elections.

Seven constituencies across the country also elected new Members of the National Assembly. 

In Kilifi County, Harrison Garama Kombe of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) clinched the Magarini seat with 17,999 votes, while in Mandera County, Hassan Ahmed Maalim of UDA was declared the winner in Banissa Constituency with 10,431 votes.

The Mbeere North parliamentary seat went to Leo Wa Muthende of UDA, who garnered 15,802 votes.

In Kakamega County, David Ndakwa of UDA was confirmed as the Member of Parliament for Malava after obtaining 21,564 votes, while in Siaya County, Moses Okoth, of ODM, secured the Ugunja seat with 9,447 votes. 

Homa Bay’s Kasipul Constituency elected Boyd Were Ongondo of ODM with 16,819 votes.

A total of fifteen County Assembly seats were also filled. 

In Tana River County, Sophia Hamadawa Maro (UDA) was declared the MCA for Chewani Ward with 1,427 votes, while in Garissa County, Hassan Aden Kolosho (UDA) won the Fafi Ward seat with 1,414 votes. 

Machakos County’s Mumbuni North Ward went to Antony Kyalo Misoi of the Wiper Democratic Movement with 3,849 votes.

Turkana County recorded two new MCAs, John Namesek Erot (UDA), who won Lake Zone Ward with 3,559 votes, and Cosmas Longor Nepakiar (UDA), who secured the Nakaam Ward seat with 1,543 votes. 

Samburu County elected Isabella Leshimpiro Nanyokie (UDA) to represent Angata Nanyokie Ward after she garnered 1,239 votes.

In Nandi County, Vincent Kipilmo Ruto (UDA) was declared the MCA for Chembulet/Kapng’etuny Ward with 2,999 votes, while Douglas Tawla Masikonde of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) secured the Narok Town Ward seat in Narok County with 5,997 votes. 

The Purko Ward seat in Kajiado County went to Amos Maayiai Mpusia (DCP), who collected 2,085 votes.

Three wards in Nyamira County also elected new representatives: Christopher Moturi Osiemo (UPA) for Nyamaiya Ward with 4,790 votes, Jeremiah Njenga Ongaro (UPA) for Ekeranyo Ward with 3,507 votes, and Jackson Mogusu Mochumbe (PDP), who captured Nyansiongo Ward with 2,759 votes.

Other County Assembly winners include Dickson Aduda Okwiri (DCP) for Kisa East Ward in Kakamega County with 1,952 votes, Eric Wekesa (Independent) for Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Bungoma County with 6,162 votes, and David Wanyoike Warui (DCP) for Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi City County with 2,282 votes.
