Imara Daima Outfall Drain To End Flooding Woes

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is on-course in expanding the construction of the Imara Outfall Drain.

The canal stretches for 3.5km long to the Ngong River and will divert flood waters that have haunted the estate for decades.

The outfall runs from A8 through, Imara Mall, Imara estate, Embakasi Girls, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kware and terminates at Ngong River (Outering Road).

According to KeNHA Director of Corporate Communications Samuel Kumba, the works include a mega access culvert at Joe Kimanga Road.

Mr. Kumba said the project will also entail increasing the capacity of the side drains along the Tecla Lorupe Road and upgrading of the crossing culvert cutting Tecla Lorupe.

Imara Daima residents welcomed the project development, calling on the authority to speed up the construction ahead of the October short rains season.

Along A8 Mombasa Road, KeNHA is expanding capacity of roadside drainages to contain perennial flooding witnessed in the area.
