Japeth Koome, Inspector General of Police, has stated that he will petition Parliament to have banditry and cattle rustling classified as terrorist acts.
Koome stated in his inaugural speech shortly after being sworn in on Friday that the two criminal activities have resulted in massive casualties.
“Those who steal cattle are not cattle rustlers.” A great deal of property is destroyed, and citizens and officers are killed. Our new policy is to go after the lords, whom we refer to as livestock lords.
The IG also warned criminals all over the country that they will no longer have a free pass.
He stated that lawlessness will not occur under his watch and that he will not sleep on the job while petty criminals terrorize Kenya.
