‘Investor’ Harun Aydin Travel Documents Raise Questions

The travel history of arrested Turkish investor Harun Aydin, who was in Deputy President William Ruto’s abortive trip to Uganda, is being investigated by police.

Aydin was apprehended immediately after arriving from Uganda at Wilson Airport and taken to the Anti-Terror Nairobi offices on Ngong Road in Nairobi.

The individual had entered Kenya twice without the knowledge of Kenyan officials, according to police.

According to the DP, the Turkish embassy released a statement stating that Aydin is a legal businessman with a work permit who has made significant investments in Kenya.

He claimed that tying the investor to terrorism was tarnishing Kenya’s international image.

“Turkish investor,Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage & cartels that criminalize enterprise. Importers’ goods declared contraband, Africa spirits closed, Keroche harassed, now an investor with valid papers labelled a terrorist. The tragedy of political pettiness.”

Ruto’s supporters, on the other hand, have condemned the arrest.

Oscar Sudi, a Kapsaret MP, claimed he informed the police that if Aydin is a terrorist, he should be detained first.

“They allege they want to interrogate him but they are trying to provoke the deputy president because he remained silent when they blocked him from traveling…I want to be arrested too,” Sudi protested.
