In a significant escalation, the Israeli military has issued an unprecedented evacuation warning for Sana’a International Airport in Yemen. This marks the first time the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued such a directive in Yemen, a country more than 1,000 miles away from Israel.
The warning was delivered by IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee via social media in Arabic. “Failure to evacuate the area endangers your lives,” Adraee stated, urging civilians to leave the vicinity of the airport immediately.
The evacuation alert comes just a day after the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes targeting the port of Hodeidah and a nearby cement factory. The Houthi-run Ministry of Health reported that at least one person was killed and 35 others injured in the attack on the factory located in Bajil, east of Hodeidah.
Tensions in the region have been on the rise in recent months. In December, Israel struck Sana’a International Airport, an attack that, according to the Houthi-aligned al-Masirah satellite television network, killed at least three people and injured 30 others.
The latest developments indicate a potential widening of Israel’s military operations in the region, raising concerns about further destabilization and the safety of civilians in targeted areas.
