Activist Chiloba’s Friend Denies Murder Charges

Jacktone Odhiambo, the main suspect in the murder of LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo aka Chiloba, has pleaded not guilty.

Odhiambo denied before Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi that he murdered Chiloba between December 31st, 2022 and January 3rd, 2023 in the Chebisaas district of Moiben, Uasin Gishu county.

“I never murdered him,” Odhiambo said when the court asked him to respond to the allegations.

The judge ordered that the matter be mentioned on February 16th to confirm the defence’s receipt of all material evidence to be relied on by the prosecution.

Before pleading not guilty to murder, the judge ordered Odhiambo to undergo a psychiatric examination at MTRH which proved that he was fit to stand trial.

Odhiambo was found to have a case to answer after investigations tied him to the gruesome death of the fashion model.

The court released four additional suspects, three of whom were children when evidence showed they had no connection to Chiloba’s death.
