Teenager Faces Death Penalty For Throwing Baby In A Trash Can

A teenager in Dothan, Alabama, has been charged with murder after trashing a new born son.

Jakayla Williams, 18, told detectives she didn’t want a child because having a baby cost too much money.
She claimed to have left him with an employee at a nearby hospital, but police found no sign of her ever being there.

The police chief determined that she had actually had a baby a week earlier, around 7.30am on August 13.

She placed the live newborn in a trash compactor at an apartment complex on the west side of Dothan around 10am or 11am.

Officers later found the baby’s remains in an unemptied dumpster at a landfill site, wrapped in a mattress protector inside a zipped duffel bag.

Williams has now been charged with capital murder.
