Jamia Mosque Imam Muhamed Swalihu Succumbs To Cancer

Imam Muhamed Swalihu, who braved stage four cancer and visited Nairobi’s Jamia Mosque in April 2022 for Friday prayers, has rested.

Imam Swahilu breathed his last on Tuesday, October 11, and the news about his death was made public by Jamia Mosque Committee in Nairobi.

The committee made the announcement in a tweet, adding that Swalihu had served as an Imam at the Masjid since 1995.

“Jamia Mosque Committee Nairobi regrets to inform you of the demise of Imam Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu this morning in Nairobi,” read he tweet.

‘The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord #Imam_Swalihu Indeed we are grieved by your separation.” read another.

According to Jamia Mosque, the Imam had a program in HorizonTV Kenya called Ukumbi wa Fiqh, which mainly discussed Fiqh-related topics.

The Imam, who was born in 1949 in Ndanu, Lamu East, and had specialized in Fiqh and also majored in Hadith, Tawheed, and Seerah, will be buried on Tuesday, October 11.

The burial will be held at the Kariokor Muslim Cemetery. “Janaza Prayers for our beloved Imam will be held today immediately after Asr prayers at Jamia Mosque Nairobi,” the mosque announced.
