Journalist Faces Charges Over Fake Cash

A Journalist has denied charges of possession of a forged bank note contrary to section 359 of the penal code.

Joseph Muchane Kyalo, a journalist working with KAYU TV was arraigned before Milimani Law courts.

According to the prosecution, Joseph Muchane was arrested on February 4, 2023 at Directorate of Criminal Investigation with two Kes 1,000 fake currencies.

He denied particulars of the charge.

The defense counsel led by Danstan Omari informed the court that the accused person is a Journalist for KAYU TV station and that his offense is that he was alerted to cover the arrest of people at the DCI but the police framed him.

Lawyer Omari termed the act as an attack to the freedom of the Media by the police.

He was released on a bond of Kes 50,000.
