Kenyan Joycline Jepkosgei and Geoffrey Kamworor did the country proud yesterday as they won the New York full marathon race.
Jepkosgei won the 49th New York city women race at 2:22:38 beating four-time world marathon champion, Mary Keitany.
Jepkosgei made the second fastest female time in race history, to become the first woman to win New York City marathon debut since 1994. At 25 she is the youngest female winner since 2001.
Her compatriot Goeffrey Kamworor won the men’s race clocking 2:08:13.
Kamworor is the training partner of worlds fastest marathoner Eliud Kipchoge took over Albert Korir (2:08:36) and Ethiopian Girma Bekele Gebre (2:08:38).
