After a week of interviews, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended Justice William Okelo Ouko to be the next Supreme Court Judge.
Following the Supreme Court judge’s election, President Uhuru Kenyatta will be presented with his name for appointment.
“The process has been engaging and rewarding to all the commissioners who had the opportunity to interact with some of the best legal minds in Kenya in a process that has revealed the rich legal resource that this country possesses,” Professor Olive Mugenda said.
Justice Said Juma Chitembwe, Justice Marete Njagi, Justice Matthews Nduma, Justice William Ouko, lawyer Alice Yano, Justice Sergon Joseph Kiplagat, and Dr. Nyaberi Lumumba were among the six other candidates interviewed by the tribunal.
Last week, Justice Martha Koome was recommended for the Chief Justice post, and her name forwarded to President Kenyatta for appointment.
