Judge Muya Shooting Incident: Netted car tells Tale of a Troubled Judge

The sitting Bomet Judge’s modest car was sprayed with bullets by detectives in an apparent attempt to rescue him from car jackers.


The detectives shot the right and left rear of the vehicle, with the bullets exiting the rear of the vehicle, narrowly missing the Judge . The incident occurred on the Morning of Friday 23 August at 4.30am and not Monday as reported by Police.


People close to Justice Muya say he is a brave man, who never shy’s away from making decisions he believes are right; whatever the circumstance.


As a High Court Judge in Mombasa, Justice Muya enhanced bail terms for the Akashas, who are now behind US prisons, despite pressure from powerful forces within the Coastal regions.

He now faces a tribunal to determine his fate after he made rulings considered not favorable to NIC bank against a client.


On the night before his brush with death in a botched shooting incident, the Judge was said to have been drinking alone at a pub along Dennis Pritt road in Nairobi.
