The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has postponed interviews for High Court judges, which were scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 20.
The interviews have been rescheduled for Monday, October 3, according to a statement issued by Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi on Monday, September 19.
According to JSC, the rescheduling was done to allow enough time for a conclusive hearing of the exercise’s complaints.
“Having reviewed the complaints lodged and responses by the candidates, the JSC resolved that affected candidates be accorded a fair hearing and be given an opportunity to provide better particulars and clarification as required by the law,” Amadi stated.
“In fulfillment of the constitutional requirement for public participation in the appointment of state officers, the JSC resolved to carry out stakeholder engagement to get the perspective of stakeholders on the recruitment and selection to enrich the process,” she added.
The interviews will take place at the JSC office boardroom in Nairobi’s Reinsurance Plaza until November 3. Shortlisted candidates have been asked to check the commission’s website for the date and time of their evaluation.
On May 4, the commission released a list of 104 shortlisted candidates who had applied for the 20 advertised positions.
It also urged the public to provide any relevant information about the candidates who had made the shortlist.
