Kiema-Kalonzo Fight Over Wiper Ticket Turns Ugly

Kitui governor-aspirant Julius Kiema Kilonzo confirmed that he has launched a petition with the Wiper party tribunal challenging the issuance of the ticket to his opponent Dr. Julius Malombe.

“As you may be aware of the calamity that visited our campaigns as a result of evil, illegal and corrupt activities of wiper party leaders which made us be denied the wiper ticket for governor candidate Kitui County, we are not resting and have launched a petition with the party tribunal challenging the issuance of the ticket to our opponent,” said Kilonzo.

Kilonzo was expected to square it with Malombe for the Wiper ticket at the primaries that were scheduled for Thursday, April 21, only for the party to declare the latter its flag bearer at an NGC meeting on Monday.

“Also, you may remember we had prepared adequately for nominations to take place on 21st April which were canceled at the last minute without notice leading to us being bundled unwillingly into negotiations which were conducted in my absence and decided by an invalid congregation,” he added.

The Former Kenya’s high commissioner to Uganda termed Malombe as an opportunist and unworthy bearer of the ticket.

However, Kilonzo urged his supporters and allies to remain calm and alert as they plan their next steps.

“As this happens, we are consulting widely with view to give you good direction into the 2022 campaigns going forward. Stay cool and vigilant,” he said.
