More Police officers have been assigned to Justice Anthony Mrima after threats on his life.
Police Commissioner Lazarus Opicho, who leads the Judiciary Police Unit, said in a statement on Sunday that he had phoned Justice Mrima and asked him to make a formal complaint for action.
He also stated that the team had identified the security requirements of judges and magistrates in order to respond adequately to new threats.
The incident comes shortly after sentencing the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to four months in prison for contempt of court.
The ruling came in a case in which the DCI boss was sued for refusing to return guns taken from businessman Jimi Wanjigi’s home by his operatives.
After the news of the threats, Chief Justice Martha Koome directed that security be allocated to the distressed judge.
