Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo clashed during a Kenya Kwanza rally on Wednesday.

Rigathi Gachagua, the UDA presidential running mate, had pitched tents in Kiambu county, where he was holding a series of rallies under the umbrella “Mt Kenya express,” when the standoff began.

The rally was marred by an exchange of words between the two leaders, with each trying to prove to be superior as they engaged in a heated war of words as their supporters cheered them on.

During the rally at Kagwe shopping centre in Lari, UDA’s Kimani was invited to address the crowd after the Tujibebe’s party candidate Kabogo, but a few minutes into his speech, he (Wamatangi) was rudely interrupted by the former lawmaker.

Wamatangi accused Kabogo of threatening him, insisting that he would not be intimidated.

“I will no longer buy fear from you Kabogo, you spoke here and I did not interrupt you, my focus is on developing Kiambu and do not dare me. Look elsewhere if you want to sell fear – who told you this county belongs to you? Shut up and get out of here!” Wamatangi lamented after Kabogo interjected him.

“Talk about your issues or get out of here,” Kabogo retorted as he threw hand gestures at his colleague atop his vehicle.

The aftermath of the dramatic confrontation saw a campaign vehicle affiliated with the former Kiambu boss ram into that carrying Wamatangi.
