Did Kalonzo Musyoka move to create a Samson moment in Azimio abort? Or was his joker game of a post election deal incase of a run off back fire?
Was Kalonzo a political suicide bomber in Azimio or a strategic operator seeking more for his community.
Kalonzo came out looking badly. Clue less. He had to get a way back. First and thick.
Make no mistake. Wiper leaders did not compel their supremo Kalonzo to back Raila and Azimio.
For starters, the Kamba Community has been in the opposition since 1997. When Ngilu vied for the Presidency.
In 1992, Moi and KANU purported to have won. But Mwai Kibaki and Kenneth Matiba combined got more votes than Moi.
In 2002, the Kamba Community voted for opposition Chief Mwai Kibaki.
In 2005, they exited through ODM Kenya and later Wiper.
In 2013 and 2017, the Kamba Community voted CORD and NASA to a man. Raila it was.
And so Raila needs no introduction to Kamba voters and politics.
Kalonzo is the de facto leader of the community.
But voters here are intelligent enough to know a vote for Kalonzo and his Andrew Sunkuli is a waste of time.
Kalonzo hoped his move would cause chaos in Ukambani. It only succeeded in embarrassing the community.
So is the Wiper MPs resolution for Kalonzo to take the Chief Minister offer from Raila an attempt to sanitise his move back?
Yes and no.
No because Kalonzo has no home. Politically.
Kalonzo support is critical. But not a matter life and death.
With or without Kalonzo, Central Kenya will give Raila the 1.5million votes he owns in Ukambani and hope that his liutenants Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana and Nzioka Waita.
It is this well founded fear of becoming politically irrelevant that has driven Kalonzo back to Raila’s bedroom.
Kalonzo was staring at a political disaster and possible retirement ahead of the 5th Presidency.
Kambas have spoken.
