KAM Urges Kenyans to Embrace Peaceful Means of Conflict Resolution

In an official statement, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) expressed gratitude to the people for their participation in the Finance Bill 2024 and expressed concern over the violence that has resulted in protests that have caused property damage and fatalities.

In compliance with the Public Order Act and Article 37 of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, KAM recognised that “Every person has the right, peaceably and unarmed, to assemble, to demonstrate, to picket, and to present petitions to public authorities.”

The group asserts that it is imperative that this be accomplished without destroying businesses or property while protecting the lives and safety of every Kenyan.

KAM sent their sincere sympathies to the friends and family of Kenyans who lost loved ones in the protests, and they wished a speedy recovery to everyone who was hurt.

The Association also urged the adoption of discussion, which is the cornerstone of the state’s democracy, and nonviolent methods of resolving disputes.

“We recognise that dialogue forms the basis of our democracy. Therefore, we call upon all Kenyans to embrace tolerance and peaceful means of conflict resolutions,” said KAM.

“We endeavour to join other Kenyans to find a win-win solution in the spirit of our purpose to create prosperity for Kenya through sustainable industrialisation,” KAM added.

KAM also concurred that it is everyone’s duty to prioritise and uphold peace, stability, and the long-term prosperity and development of our dear nation, Kenya.
