Kenyan Man Arrested Over Deadly DRC Church Explosion

A Kenyan was detained for having ties to the attack's planning, which is now identified with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

A Kenyan Citizen was arrested in DRC in connection with an attack in a church in North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that left 10 people dead on Sunday, January 15.

According to Congolese Military Spokesman Antony Mualushayi,the “terrorist incident” occurred in a Pentecostal church in Kasindi, a town on the border with Uganda.

Preliminary data from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, confirmed that at least 39 additional individuals were injured.

Mualushayi revealed that, following preliminary investigations at the location of the disaster, a Kenyan was detained for having ties to the attack’s planning, which is now identified with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

Similarly, the DRC’s communications ministry verified via social media that the attack was presumably carried out by the ADF), which the Islamic State group claims is its central African affiliate.

The ADF has been accused of atrocities against Congolese people as well as bomb strikes in Uganda.
