KCB Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to motorsports by sponsoring the 2025 WRC Safari Rally for the fifth consecutive year, injecting KShs. 209 million into the iconic event scheduled for March 2025 in Naivasha.
The sponsorship underscores KCB’s dedication to fostering local talent, promoting national cohesion, and driving economic growth through sports. This year, the bank will support four Kenyan drivers: Karan Patel, Nikhil Sachania, Tinashe Gatimu, and Evans Kavisi. Gatimu will make her debut as part of the KCB racing team, while Kavisi is set to return after a year-long break.
Speaking during the official launch in Nairobi, KCB Group CEO Paul Russo emphasized the importance of the Safari Rally beyond motorsport.
The WRC Safari Rally is more than just a race; it’s a global stage for showcasing Kenya’s potential. At KCB, we believe in pushing boundaries, and through our support, we hope to empower Kenyan drivers while contributing to the country’s economic ambitions.
Breakdown of the Sponsorship
KShs. 100 million To the Kenya Motorsport Federation for event logistics and preparation.
Ksh. 23 million Direct support for four Kenyan drivers.
KShs. 86 million Branding, hospitality, activations, and the Revvisha na KCB campaign to promote financial literacy.
Since WRC’s return to Kenya in 2021, KCB has spent KShs. 800 million on the event and KShs. 2.3 billion in motorsports over two decades, strengthening Kenya’s position as a global motorsports destination.
Sports CS Salim Mvurya lauded KCB’s support, noting that the rally injects billions into Kenya’s economy and attracts thousands of visitors.
KCB’s commitment ensures local talent continues to shine globally, further cementing Kenya’s reputation as a motorsports powerhouse.
A Sustainable Approach to Racing
KCB is incorporating sustainability into its sponsorship by planting 3,000 trees during the rally. Additionally, an art competition for primary schools in Nakuru County will promote creativity and environmental awareness.
The rally will kick off with a ceremonial start at Kasarani before proceeding to KICC for a Super Special Stage. Drivers will then battle through Naivasha’s toughest terrains, including Sleeping Warrior, Hell’s Gate, and Oserian, before the grand finale and prize-giving ceremony.
