KDF Hands Over CDF Ogolla’s Wedding Ring, The Only Item Recovered After Chopper Crash

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) handed over General Francis Ogolla’s wedding ring to his family, the only item recovered following the fatal accident in Elgeyo Marakwet when the aircraft caught fire.

The ring, a symbol of love and commitment cherished by General Ogolla, was presented to his family by KDF senior officials during a solemn moment on Thursday at the family’s Nairobi home, prior to the Cabinet’s visit the following day.

The item was handed over to Gen Ogolla’s widow, Aileen Ogolla, as funeral preparations began ahead of the General’s burial today, Sunday, at his home in Ng’iya Siaya County.

General Ogolla, who always carried a Bible, tragically lost his life along with officers under him; Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu, Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.
“The military bosses handed the ring to the family. Allow me not to describe his body after the accident,” a top military official told The Sunday Standard.
