KeNHA Announces Temporary Closure of Mombasa Road for Urgent Repairs

Written By Lisa Murimi

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road, from General Motors to Nairobi National Park East Gate Road, to carry out essential road pavement rehabilitation.

This closure, aimed at improving the road’s condition and overall serviceability, will last from Saturday, November 2, 2024, to Saturday, November 9, 2024.

KeNHA has advised motorists to use designated detours to minimize disruptions.

Light vehicles are directed to take ICD Road near General Motors, while heavy vehicles should divert at Cabanas to follow the Old Mombasa Road.

The maintenance comes after complaints from motorists regarding the deteriorating road surface and resulting traffic delays due to potholes.

The repairs are intended to alleviate these issues, ensuring smoother traffic flow.

KeNHA has also recently announced a separate traffic disruption near Panari Hotel for the construction of a footbridge, scheduled from October 29 to November 22, 2024.

Motorists are urged to follow KeNHA’s traffic management plan and cooperate with officers on site to ensure a smooth transition during the roadworks.
